I wish that I could fly...

Limited party gowns adorned the Valentino, Paris Haute Couture Fall 2009 runway. Tradition was, instead, replaced by magical tucked tulle, sparkly fairy dresses to make every princess feel special. Think sexy, tinkerbell... black sleevless dress with a big "fairy wing" bow dancing down your back, or trompe l'oeil black lace leaves placed gently around your collarbone as if you just exited the magical forest.

For make-up, think silver eye gems dusting your rainbow painted eyes. This is sure to charm any special Peter Pan.

Celebrity Fashion Take 2...

I can't sleep tonight, so I find myself cruising fashion blogs and designers sites. One of my favorite blogs is Jasmine Anderson's FashionGrail.com. She does an amazing job recreating celebrity fashions on a budget. She'll show you how to put the style together & where to buy the knockoffs. Check-out her blog & remember to leave a comment on the great work she is doing (I don't want her to stop =)

The Uniform Project

Thanks to @thinkmaya, I just found a super cool #fashionforcause site. It's called The Uniform Project. Here is the idea on the site:

" Starting May 2009, I have pledged to wear one dress for one year as an exercise in sustainable fashion. Here’s how it works: There are 7 identical dresses, one for each day of the week. Every day I will reinvent the dress with layers, accessories and all kinds of accoutrements, the majority of which will be vintage, hand-made, or hand-me-down goodies. Think of it as wearing a daily uniform with enough creative license to make it look like I just crawled out of the Marquis de Sade's boudoir.

The Uniform Project is also a year-long fundraiser for the Akanksha Foundation, a grassroots movement that is revolutionizing education in India. At the end of the year, all contributions will go toward Akanksha’s School Project to fund uniforms and other educational expenses for children living in Indian slums. "

I love when people mix passion with cause. Please join me in supporting @UniformProject by donating $$ or accessories (see site for more information).

Grandma, what pointy shoulders you have ...

What do you think of the new pointy shoulder trend? My first thought is "i love the lines, but it looks like something only pencil thin people can successfully wear". I haven't ventured out and tried them on yet, but this weekend, I think I will.

On MyTheresa.com, they posted this Balmain jewel tuxedo wool blazer sporting the new pointy shoulder look. They paired it with an Alexander Wang blouse, Balmain pants, Jimmy Choo choo tote and Balmain booties. The office never looked so hot.

Tony Hawk made my son smile

My 9 year old isn't one to smile unless there is a really good reason. This week, I decided to buy him some "power clothes", something that would make him feel confident; something that he would willingly wear without my making a deal with him. I found it in the Tony Hawk isle - Tony Hawk jeans, shorts, t-shirts, sandals, socks & underwear. When I brought the clothes home and announced each item as "Tony Hawk (insert clothing item)" it took all of his strength not to smile. He tried each item on immediatley (which is usually not the case) and then announced that he "liked them".

When it gets a little cooler, I'll throw in a Tony Hawk sweatshirt. For now, the smile on his face when I say "your Tony Hawk jeans look so cool" is all I need.

Teen Fashion for 2009 Autumn School Season

My daughter, Zoe, is pulling together her lookbook and polyvore fashions for the new school year. She'll post new styles, hot items, great deals & a couple 'dream outfits' that "if money wasn't an issue...". Stay tuned over the next two weeks to see what creative trends she pulls together... Until then, enjoy some music by Zoe Pearce... (Lullaby for your tired eyes is one of my favorites)

Stretch your short season

Is Short season quickly fading into Autumn? Stretch your short season this year by adding:
  • Tights (full lengh, cut off, or short)
  • Blazer
  • Trade in your flat sandals for heels. or better yet, boots (thigh high if you have them)

That's a wrap

Everyone needs a classic wrap dress in their closet. This Isabella Oliver classic wrap is a great choice. With body hugging curves and a soft hip bow, you're sure to draw attention in any crowd.

I Feel The Earth Move Under My Feet

Hands down, platform stiletto sandals are my absolute fav right now. I am 5'7 3/4" and typically taller than most women around me (except for my BFF). I'm not usually fond of being tall, but this year it's working for me. Platform stiletto's are like my power shoes, I feel confident and sexy in them... seriously. Long legs or short legs, these puppies will totally work for you.

Try a pair this Fall/Winter. Trust me, your man won't know what hit him as you strut around the house, picking up toys, looking sexy. Added bonus, think of the extra inches you can lose when doing squats in these shoes (picking up clothes). If you have great balance, try some lunges too =)

Can't end Summer without Tibi Cover Ups

The colors and shapes of these Tibi summer cover ups, has me falling in love all over again. Can someone extend Summer just a little bit longer?
Pair with neutral sandals, to keep the eyes above the fold.

Jennifer Anniston's Elle Cover

Can anything be hotter than Jennifer Anniston? Yep, Jennifer Anniston wrapped in leather. I do wish they would quit focusing on her age, though. "Can you believe she's 40...". Well, it's not like 40 is the new crypt keeper (is it)? She is just hot... period. If I could choose one persons closet to shop from (and to fit into) it would be hers. She is classy, comfortable and sexy. Sign me up for the next JA make-over.

Burberry Fall 2009 Collection

I love dark clothes that hug my body (not like a sausage, more like two lovers) and Burberry's Fall 2009 collection does not dissapoint. Their modern silhouettes offer a stylish escape from the naked summer. Bring on the crisp Fall air, I'm ready to wash off the summer! (pics via fashionweekdaily.com)
